What a place. Real tourist trap here in Seedy Merchants. a tiny trading pier, barely a spec on the map. It didn’t really matter, Rinzo wasn’t here to shop or explore. Just a place to train and hone his skills. He had found a nice quiet cove, a lone pier jetting out into the calm waters of the body of water, enclosed by a semi circle of land. The sun was dipping into the horizon and provided a nice orange and red color across the sky, scattered pink, almost as if the cloudless sky was burning. He smiled, taking a few calming deep breaths as he strolled out onto the wooden pier, hands in pockets, eyes closed like he didn’t care. Opening them and stopping about midway out, he exhaled heavily and took off his jacket, tossing it into the boat that was tethered to the pier, to keep it out of his way. Now to bring up some memories of his past. Some moves he hadn’t had the liberty of showing anyone in a long time...time to go back to school, he thought as he rolled up his sleeves, his white button down shirt untucked and a tie hanging loosely from his neck.

Closing his eyes, Rinzo began to go to the place he usually went when he used his firebending. He didn’t have a traditional teaching and a lot of his bending was fueled by anger and rage, along with quite a bit of sadness form his past. All of which he had plenty of to draw from, quickly readying himself form this little work out. His eyes flew open as he took off running down the pier, hate in his eyes and determination pouring from his expression accompanied by a bloodcurdling scream.
“GAAHHHHHH”
Charging head long to the end of the pier, he jumped before reaching the end, pushing anger and hate into his right fist. He was known to have a mean right hook, but this was overkill. Landing at the end of the pier in a crouch, one knee down, and his right fist connecting with the once thought, hard wood, an eruption of fire exploded to life around him, originating from where his fist hit. His fist alone had cracked and broken the wood, but the fiery explosion had blasted the end of the pier clean off, and fire was scattered around him, slowly burning the already charred pier end. He rose, dusting himself off, and stepping on a bit of fire to his right. “There, Thats better.” A smart ass grin crossed his face, already having something in mind for the next move...

Still Standing on the end of the dock, in front of him burning bits of the end of the pier, and small places even on fire still, and behind him an long walkway back to shore. Another move he was planning was especially nice and he;d always found it pleasing in the past. Preferring the satisfaction of pummeling peoples faces in with his own hands this was the perfect way to do that while incorporating the extra devastation of his firebending. Adding major pain on top of his already impressive beat downs. Using a simple method of pushing his fire out through his hands, usually, each blow would not only carry his strength and force, but also serve to burn and add a bit more pain to the punishment. And it served as a handy reminder for the bastard who got the bad end of the deal, fighting Rinzo, cause he’d have to live with the loss, and typically a nice scar even after it held form the burns. Just thinking about all the chumps that had the nerve to push him around and get into fights with him back in the day and suffered that fate brought a nice smirk to his face as he clenched his fists tightly.

Breaking his standing pose, Rinzo burst into a series of attack motions. Whirling around sending jabs and kicks at invisible enemies as if an army had filed onto the pier behind him. Running through sets and combos of kicks and punches was a simple work out, but one that kept everything fresh for him. After pulling back form the invisible hoard, now about a yard away form the end of the pier and practically one land, he eyed a tree about 5 yards away. Then began his attack sets again, only this time with each punch he exhaled and a blaze of fire seem to extend form each punch. As if he held a blade in his fist that ran across the knuckles and entire fist, and proceeded to make the invisible enemies eat it. He fought this way until finally reach the tree he’d eyed and spun, delivering a powerful straight right into the trunk. The thick tree shuddered, the fire around his first almost poofing around his hand as it made contact. he tried to keep up the flame, exhaling slowly and feeling the heat ahead of his fist, as the tree bark smoke and some had already been chipped form the force of the punch. Standing up straight form his hunched, strike, position, he moved his hand away. it hurt a bit, but the satisfaction form his attack was a more overwhelming feeling. The tree hand a nice fist size imprint that was smoking and even had a bit of fire in it. Job well done I’d say, with a smirk of accomplishment on my face as I cracked my neck.

Wiping off some dust and bark, sweat forming on his forehead, Rinzo walked back onto the pier, removing his shirt and tie. He picked up his jacket and walked back to the beach, walking to a bench set looking out over the waters of the cove. He set them down and looked out to the water himself, taking deep, calming breathes. Still more work ahead, it was better to keep some cool head and not wear himself out to fast. Shaking his arms, staying loose as he decided on the next move. The ability to surround, and envelop an enemy was nice and handy for a number of ways. Plus it added more fire tot he area which was even better. When earth, air, and water were often abundant, creating and adding fire to an area was going to be incredibly useful. Better then constantly creating his own. Not that it was a huge problem..it did come into effect if you were to think long term. Yeah thats right, even Rinzo could use his brain every once in a while.

A few more breathes followed by assuming a stance common of the Northern Sholian style, and began. Swinging his arms and channeling his chi, Rinzo’s hands and fore arms became a flurry of fire, as he spun his arms in motions, sending lashes of fire, as if they were rope, from his arms in ribbons, scattering them ahead of him and to the sides. Ending in a power stance, prepared to move again, he paused. As if waiting, which is unlike a firebender, but he was done with his move. He stood to examine his work. Fire was spread fairly wide, behind him and ahead of him, especially on the sides. As if he had made a tunnel of fire, that had fallen and given him a nice path, fire on all sides except the two ends which remained open. This would surely give him an edge in a one on one corner match. In his element and putting his enemy into the fire..literally.

All attack and no defense could make Rinzo a dead traitor, lost noble of the fire nation. He laughed at the thought. No one knew he even existed, and now one ever wold more then likely. FIne by him but he needed some kind of defense. Granted firebendeing was generally known for it’s lack of defense and mostly strict aggressive attacks, but there were some. Some moves that allowed a firebender to protect and block incoming attacks. Rinzo knew of one, skillfully named Blocking fire. Some clever fool was a pro with names. Anyway the art is to stop and defuse incoming fire blasts, rendering them extinguished. Simple enough and a skill that would be invaluable against any fire bender opponents. If anyone ever did learn who he was...then it was very likely that this would be the most important skill he ad so better to get started now. Clenching and releasing his fists Rinzo considered the technique. Training it would be hard on his own, but not impossible.

Walking beneath one of the trees on the edge of the beach he strolled, looking up to it’s big branches. He stood directly beneath one of the branches and a devilish smile spread across his face. Well here went everything he supposed. Pulling his arms back, and then striking up with fierce jabs aimed at a particularly large branch above him. The result was a series of fire balls of sufficient size, much like large medicine balls, condensed balls of fire hitting the branch and breaking it from the tree trunk, and lighting it ablaze to plummet to earth in a shower for fire and splinters raining down right on top of Rinzo. Channeling his energy, Rinzo exhaled as the fiery wood reached him. He brought his arms up, swinging his arm in a defensive move to block the fire, sending up some of his own to counter it. The fire’s collided and in a blaze of light and fire, then there was nothing. Around him fire was in patches and splinters, of charred wood lay all around, but it had worked. The smile remained as he flexed his hands, unharmed form what should have at least done something...yet there he was. Fit as a fiddle some would say.

Rinzo approached the beach he’d been training on. He’d set of some things to help hims with his next skill. Another thing to check off his list of what to brush up on and what keeps him alive. A skill a firebender needed. Sometimes even the greats got tired and couldn’t cast and create their own fire, or even using fire around you could be extremely helpful. Water benders, air benders, and earth benders did it, why shouldn’t fire benders right? Strolling back from the village where he’d gotten some water, still shirtless, he came back to get down to work. This one should be simple. He had arranged a group of tiki torches, about 8 or 10 or so, around in a circle pattern. Now, walking into the circle he tried to clear his head and get his mind in the right place. Usually in a fight with his bending he could just go balls out and burn the crap outta stuff. But this...this was a little more delicate. Not his strong suit and took more concentration for him. Kinda one of the reasons why he had to come back and redo this training after not using the technique in so long.

Stepping into the fire circle, the heat enveloped him on all sides. Not an overwhelming heat, but comfortable and reassuring to a firebender. Rinzo didn’t mind things hot. It was the cold that he hated. Nothing good came from it. Snow? you mean stupid rain that doesn’t even know that it’s suppose to be liquid! He was definitely someone that wouldn’t be making a trip to the north or south poles anytime soon. The sun had set and the darkness of the night made his little fire circle shine like a beacon on the beach. He’d set an example for others to follow through the sheer fact that he was awesome.

In the middle of the circle of torches, the fire dancing and casting shadows around the ground and painting Rinzo’s boy in light, the boy bowed his head. Standing straight, his head bowed and eyes closed he tried to ‘feel’ the fire around him. It was much different the air and earth bending where they had a physical connection with their element, and similar to water bending. The waterbenders didn’t have to have to a connection with water, the connection was always with them, inside. With firebenders, that connection was stronger, much stronger. Here, the benders created their element, and could draw it to them through will and feeling. Even now, as he stopped to feel, he could feel more then the heat on his skin, but actually feel the fire around him. Raising his arms, he pushed his chi out. Not like he normally would to create fire, but more to connect with the fire around him, feeling it and becoming one with it. As he raised his arms he released his chi to increase the flame around him. His eyes were closed, but he could feel the heat grow and the light grew brighter against his eye lids as the fires on the torches rose higher and got bigger.

Now, time for the finale. Sending a burst of chi, to send the fires raging and then he threw his hands down and spun in a circle, dragging the fire through sheer will. The fire obeyed, speeding down, engulfing the wooden poles and completing the circle, full of fire. In the ring of fire Rinzo opened his eyes and smirked. The fire warmed him and gave him light casting him in light and color. Perfect, was all Rinzo thought looking into the fire around him.

PostSubject: Re: A Dragons Release   A Dragons Release EmptyMon Oct 31, 2011 6:45 pm

The ring of fire around him gave him strength. Not actually, but it’s presence, warming his skin and casting light into the shadows around...it reassured him and gave him confidence and power. as he inhaled the fire around the circle rose higher and grew hotter and with his exhale they returned to normal. He was one with the fire around him as he looked into the darkness. Nothing stirred, but the fire light cut his visibility. He held out his left hand before him, palm up and willed fire form the circle to his palm. Fire flew to it as if it were a stream in mid air, forming a nice soft ball size flame floating just above his palm. He eyed it, and considered how to use it. The warmth kissing his skin and dancing in his grasp. The possibilities he could use the fire for were...in fact nearly limitless. He was very skilled after all. Even for his young age many other firebenders didn’t stand much chance and he knew it. It was a leading factor to his cockiness. Although eh knew his cockiness was a guise. A clever cover to mask who he was.

Images of his past, training with his father and watching his father leave. Fighting beside him had been the greatest moment of his life. So scared but so filled with joy. He was lost in his mind, looking into the fire as if it’d speak the answers and reflect his desires. A noise sounded in the woods, past his fires light and in the darkness beyond. Instantly snapped back to reality and without much thought he warped the fire in his palm quickly. It flattened into a disk like state, spinning fast, almost blindingly so as he threw it forward at the direction of the sound. The noise of fire filled the air as the disk raced forward and exploded against a tree a few meters away. Ginning an idea struck Rinzo. he couldn’t see out there, so wether something lurked in the shadows was beyond him. But he did know that if anything came into his light they were gonna meet the light the hard way. Baptism by fire, or so Rinzo envisioned. But nothing would be dumb enough to come that close, so best to make sure whatever it was knew that he meant business.

Quickly exhaling slowly fire erupted to life in his hands and shaped itself to his will, flattening to disks in both hands and spinning faster then before, as if it had an edge. Then he threw them, not just two more, but continuously making the flaming disks, slicing and exploding to fire against the same tree. Each hit left a cut, deeper and deeper slowly slicing and burning it’s way through the thick wood. Son he stopped, sweat covering his skin and a heavy pant filling his ears as he regained his breath to normal. waiting a minute he wondered if he’d done enough. Then came the sound, the heavy upper portion of the tree was too much now, and the creaking and splitting of wood filled the air as the mighty tree fell, cut down by Rinzo’s will of fire. If anything was there, it’d have scattered by now, knowing Rinzo wasn’t playing games tonight after his display of firebending prowess.

The fire kept him warm, and Rinzo was thankful for it. Not just just because it was his power, his source of strength, but also because without it he;d surly be cold. Covered in sweat and the cool sir, would kiss him to a cold and he hated those almost as he hated the cold tempeture. But fire was so much more then a tool for fidgeting. He knew that. His father had drilled that into him form the beginning. Although much of his bending was strictly influenced and fueled by hated and anger and sadness...he knew fire bendings true meaning. An essence of life. A source of strength and power not just for himself but for all. Fire had given the world much. Cooking food, providing heat. Life...revolved around fire and it’s energy. Then there was the reverse side of the blade. The destructive power of fire was one, if not the greatest, source of such power in the world. Capable of clearing entire forests and villages in a single night, reducing everything to ash and rubble. Mere shadows of what they were before the fire removed them and cleansed the land.

For fire benders it was the best offense of all the elements. Regardless of what anyone else says if they say other wise they are ignorant fools. Attacking with Fire bending was the best, if not the best defense. Thats right, he remembered that it could be used for defense as well. Although it wasn’t as strong as say earth bending for such things it still had use and in a battle, it could most defiantly save a life. Rinzo thought back to when his father had showed him the lesser known skills fire benders practiced. Defense...was a loose term for them. More focused on a strong offense, not giving the opponent a chance to fight back and overwhelm them with fire. Rinzo knew this was his preferred style of attack, but his father had warred against it. He had stressed versatility and knowing how to defend was just as important and he was not gonna have an incompetent son. So, obeying his father Rinzo had learned the art of the fire wall, or wall of flames technique.

Although never patient enough to use in battle, or never having to protect anyone but look out for his own neck, he had never had much practical use for the move. But that didn’t mean he’d forget it. He’d promised his father after all..and even in death he honored his father, or tried to. Inhaling and assuming a shoulder length, solid strong stance, Rinzo calmed his breathing. Then, exhaling and raising his arms, the fires before him grew as he added more chi and condensed the flame into a tight large wall reaching for the sky. The fire was brilliant, and as he finished, he lowered his palms down, as if pushing the fire down physically, exhaling to release the fire from his control.

Things were getting hot now. But being real, as a firebender, he hardly defended. The best offense didn’t require any defense in his mind. You’d be so busy attacking and sending the opponent on defense that you wouldn’t need to block at all. You’d be to busy winning the fight to worry about dumb things like that. His theory, if everything is on fire and burned to the ground...what do you need to defend from right? Exactly, and one of the things he was best at was getting in close, and bending his fire at the danger space next to someone and lighting them up in a furry of fire. Thats the way it was done. The trick wasn’t using fire, it was how to get that close, so fast that the heads spun off the enemies. Closing his eyes, Rinzo took some deep breathes. He’d need to focus on what he was gonna do. Sure, at one point it was second nature to him, but it still required thought and that was something that was a lucky commodity in the heat of a moment. This ability would allow him to move, run, faster then his opponents, and his speed would even be enough to rattle them and startle them long enough for him to get in and wreck their world with his intense fire. A smirk crossed his face and then he stepped out into a stance and sent a flurry of jabs aimed up at the space where he hoped was between trees. Hot condensed fire balls raced forward and up and the burning sound followed them, as they ripped through some tree branches and exploded on others, shattering wood and exploding fire filled the air with it’s music as light danced with the shadows in the trees, sending a cascade of tree limbs hurtling to the forest floor.

Without missing a beat, Rinzo dashed ahead, running straight through the ring of fire, not concerned with it in the slightest. He raced between trees and then he kicked it up a notch. This is what everything had been leading up to as he made it to the area below where his fire balls had broken branches. The falling branches had made a land mine area, to avoid them you have to be fast and agile, both of which Rinzo was, and even more so with this. Using his fire step, as he pushed off the ground each time a burst of fire exploded from his foot, giving him an extra boost. Sure this didn’t make him god like fast, but faster then most and it allowed hims to change his momentum faster then others, meaning direction was a joke. Stepping one second and then inches from being crushed under a falling branch, a burst of fire sent in in another. Each foot firing well....fire gave him great speed and mobility unlike other elemental traveling techs that were rigid and strict, this was fluid and versatile. Reaching the end of the falling branches and stepping back into the light of his fire circle, he walked, breathing a bit heavy from his run through the forest but satisfied with his accomplishment. Not a single branch had touched him...just like few people could lay a hand on him.

PostSubject: Re: A Dragons Release   A Dragons Release EmptyTue Nov 01, 2011 5:12 pm

Things had grown quiet and all that could be heard in the stillness of the night was the gentle roar of Rinzo’s ring of Fire. It warmed the air around the site he’d been training at and the cool breeze from above, well it felt like it came from above because the heat rose from all around him, was refreshing against his warm fire licked skin. He took in the night air, filing his lungs. He’d decided on his last technique to ‘refresh’ himself on. One that he’d found great for distractions, blocking even, and offense. A fire benders triple whammy. It was an interesting technique, combing high show boating and attention grabbing with the fiery blaze and intense impact. Perfect for Rinzo and one move that had saved his ass a few to many times. Sure, it’s range wasn’t incredible, but it was more then some and that was good enough for him. And with his speed he was able to get close enough to use this to it’ s best ability pretty easy. His father had often called him a fire bending prodigy....he didn’t fully understand or believe that. Sure, he was cocky as hell and wanted to be the best. But h could never see himself, on his own power, rising to meet his father’s will and expectations. He was never gonna be good enough alone in his own eyes.

Opening his eyes, determination in them and a hard expression on his face, he gathered his chi. This was meant to be a big flashy style move to draw attention and distract as much as it was to punch a hole in a defense. If anything, Rinzo was good at ruing plans, that meant defenses as well. Stepping into a shoulder width apart stance and preparing his body in a sturdy balanced position, He broke his form almost as soon as he had it, Stepping forward in a sweeping leg motion, and almost reforming a wide double punch with both arms. He shouted as load as he could, almost like an animal roar at it’s opponent or challenger. The effect resounded off of the nearby trees and through the forest, as if a tiger, lion or other fierce jungle cat lurked in the wood and announced it’s presence to the night. But this was no jungle cat, no, Rinzo was shouting out his rage and anger, a torrent of flame erupting from his fists and colliding before him cascading forward. The huge ball of flame that resulted blocked him from view completely, which was also handy in a fight, if things happened to not be going well, which they rarely did, he’d be able to slip away while the enemy was blocked by this flaming cover. Also it was charging forward, through the fire ring and to the beach past. He knew anything caught by it would face a huge impact and severe burns form the fire kissing their skin like a long lost lover. Although, if they didn’t like it rough maybe this wasn’t for them. And above all, this Lion’s Roar, that sounded from the combination of his voice, primal shout, and the roaring flame he was producing, anyone would have a hard time focusing on what was happening exactly.

He stood, a little light headed form the sudden release of his chi and production of his fire. But smiling to himself, he was impressed. He had done it again, and he couldn’t imagine the person he’d face in this life or another that would willingly, in their right mind, wish to challenge him...
